Sunday: Venice
Today you will arrive in Venice. Later you will enjoy the deep in the old center of Europe's best-preserved medieval city. After introductions you will take a stroll through our neighborhood, and then have dinner together while we discuss the week's schedule. Overnight at Hotel.
Monday: Historic Venice
Today you will make a drive directly into the historic center of what was for centuries Europe's top superpower and tour St. Mark's Square, Basilica and Doge's Palace. Lunch will be together so you will refuel our sightseeing batteries. Afterward, you'll have the afternoon and evening free. You can visit Venice's city museum (Museo Civico Correr), ride the elevator to the top of the Campanile for a stunning view, or get delightfully lost in the back lanes of this magical island. This evening, we'll gather for a wine and cheese tasting before scattering for dinner on our own. Overnight at Hotel.
Tuesday: Back Door Venice
Today you will begin a day with a look at the back streets of this city as we explore the Venice of today. Also visit a squero one of Venice's five gondola workshops and also learn about the Venetian mask tradition. Later you will make a tour to the Church of the Frari (masterpieces by Titian, Bellini and Donatello) and the nearby School of St. Rocco (packed with Tintorettos). The rest of the day is free and dinner is on your own. Overnight at Hotel.
Wednesday: Art-Filled Venice
Today begins with a visit to the Accademia, a treasure trove of Venetian art through the centuries. Then you can visit the nearby Ca' Rezzonico Palace, a museum offering the best look anywhere at the lifestyle of Venice's 18th-century rich and famous. This evening features an adventure in cuisine: a Venetian pub-crawl-dinner extravaganza to several of the town's most colorful bars and cafes. Overnight at Hotel.
Thursday: Islands of the Lagoon
Today you will spend the entire day sailing the lagoon and visit three historic islands a world away from bustling Venice.Later enjoy a glass-blowing demonstration on the island of Murano. Then we'll explore the sleepy and pastel-pretty island of Burano, famous for its lace-making. We'll have lunch together and wander its picturesque, tourist-free lanes. Finally, we'll take a peek at rural Torcello, where we'll see some amazing mosaics and climb the tipsy tower of the oldest church in the lagoon. For dinner, it's just you and Venice find a romantic, canal-side restaurant. Overnight at Hotel.
Friday: Artisans' Venice
The day is yours to explore more of this intriguing city. Or those interested in modern art can join us in the morning for a tour of the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. Tonight for our farewell dinner feast of Venetian cuisine. Overnight at Hotel.
Saturday: Tour over after breakfast Today you will say our final goodbyes and head for home or to another exciting destination.
