This Small town is best known for its birds
sanctuary- if you are interested in bird watching.Bharatpur also
has 18th century fort with a small museum.It is 55 kms from Agra
and 180 kms from Delhi via Mathura.
No less than 328 kinds of birds have been
sighted at the sanctuary, 117 of which Are migrants, which come
from as far away as Siberia or china. It takes about a week To fly
from Siberia to India. The sanctuary was the duck- shooting
preserve of the maharajas of bharatpur when this was a princely
state. Shooting has not been permitted Since 1964, and today there
are 80 types of ducks in the sanctuary.
BEST TIME TO
TRAVEL : October to February is the best time to visit the
sanctuary because there are many migratory birds to be seen.
ENTRANCE FEES:
There is entry an fee per car or bus plus charges for photography
or for taking boats on to the waters. The sanctuary covers 29
square km.
