Day 1: Arenal
Morning departure on ground transfer from San Jose to
Arenal.

Breakfast at hotel, choice of one of the following
optional tours:
a. Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge:
This is a wetland region, considered of international importance
because it protects a wide range of migratory and endangered
species, flora and fauna. In addition to the wide range of birds
that live alone the river including the anhinga, roseate spoonbill
and wood stork, we are likely to see turtles, caimans, sloths, and
monkeys. What to bring: cool, comfortable clothes and shoes,
sunscreen, insect repellent, camera and binoculars.
b. Arenal Volcano & Hot Springs
The impressive cone of the Arenal Volcano -famous for its
incredible eruptions, lava streams and incandescent rock
explosions - unforgettable natural firework displays - dominates
the rolling plains of San Carlos. The Tabacón Resort with its lush
tropical gardens and natural hot springs creates the ideal setting
for observing the Arenal Volcano and enjoying a delicious dinner.
The Tabacón River flows through lush natural gardens and forms hot
mineral water pools and waterfalls at temperatures reaching 102F.
What to bring: Sun block, swimsuit, cool comfortable clothes and
shoes, jacket and camera. Length of tour: 5 hours.
