IIn the foothills of the himalaya, north west
of the Gauhati, Manas wild life sanctuary Is on the
border with Bhutan. Three rivers run through the
sanctuary, which has a wide variety of animal and
birds life. The pygmy hog and the golden langur are
amongst the Notable animals here, although you may
also see rhinos.
anas are best
between January and march; there is excellent
fishing in November-December. Mothaingiri is the
main town in the park. Park entry charges and camera
charges are the same as in Kaziranga. Boats can be
hired for excursions or fishings trips on the Manas
River.
Best time to visit:
The best season to visit Manas park is between
October to April. Rest of the year it is off season
for the national park. Avoid the monsoon as many
parts of the park is flooded and animals are not
easy to spot.

Guwahati is the nearest airport at 176 kms.
By rail: The nearest town and
rail-head is Barpeta Road, 41 kms away.
By Road: Manas is well connected
by network of roads which connect the place with
other cities and towns in the state
