RAJASTHAN CAMEL SAFARI TOUR |
Day
01: DELHI
Today upon arrival you will be welcomed with Garland at at
the Airport.Later transferred to the Hotel.Overnight at
Hotel.
Day 02: DELHI
Today you will make a sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi -
Evening transfer to railway station to board Bikaner mail
for the overnight Journey to Bikaner, on the edge of the
great Thar Desert in Rajasthan..
Day 03: BIKANER
Arrival Bikaner in the morning - on arrival transfer to your
hotel. The remainder of the day is spent taking in the
desert town. A Walk to Junagrah Fort is a must. This fort
has a beautiful carved sandstone front and houses a good
display of Rajput weapons.
Day 04: BIKANER
Drive to the small village of Dhingsiri in the center of the
desert from where
the camel journey begins.
Day 05: CAMPING
The first day of the camel safari passes by small
huts scattered near desert fields. The local farmer try to
get a harvest of millet once a year depending on the amount
of rain they receive. Overnight at camp.
Day 06: KHAJORA
Your route today passes through valley flats with sand dunes
in the distance. A good place to spot the Great Indian
Bustard. Tonight you camp near the village of Khajora.
Day 07: MITHARIA
Today is your chance to see and experience big sand dunes.
Your camp on this night affords an excellent sunset panorama
reminiscent of Arabian camp at Mitharia.
Day 08:CHAKOO
Your camel ride today passes through desert brush lands you
may have trouble stopping your camel from constant snacking.
You have a good chances of sighting the spotted samber.
These animals are protected by the local Bishnoi tribes who
are vegetarian and abhor the killing of any animal. Camp at
Chakhoo.
Day 09: MANGLA KI DHANNI
The route today is along a remote desert trail used only by
the locals for getting their herds to nearest road head.
Tonight you will camp near dhanis - small mud huts built
near fields and used by farmer when he has a field under
crop. camp is at Mangala Ki Dhani
Day 10: JAMBHA
The path today is a sandy one but strewn with rock and
desert stone which slows your progress. Here the village
huts are of stone and there is the opportunity of seeing the
local stone masons at work. Our final camp nears as we
approach " civilisation" the tiny village of jambha which
boasts a single telephone line and a police station staffed
by one. Tonight you camp next to the house of the village
headman.
Day 11: JAISALMER
After breakfast all the gear is loaded on to waiting
transport for the 4 hour drive tojaisalmer stopping enroute
at the remarkable jain Temple at Phalodi.The jains are
traditionally merchants who follow a religion devoted to the
preservation of all life -even insects.Arrive Jaisalmer and
transfer to your hotel and take a much awaited shower.Then
head out to explore one of the Rajasthan's most
extraordinary towns and the only fort left in India which is
still inhabited by the local people. Jaisalmer is built on
the ancient trade route from central asia to the ports of
India. Many of the rich merchants of the time built what are
known as Havelis -houses exquisitely carved in local stone.
They have remained in perfect condition and most are still
private houses today. Jaisalmer is still very much as it was
in medieval times with long narrow alleyways and small
enclosed courtyard, bazaars and tiny marketplace - and
towering above, the ramparts of the old Jaisal Castle. this
day and the next are easily filled in wandering the streets,
shopping for handicrafts and just sitting and soaking up the
atmosphere of the old Rajput days.
Day 12: JAISALMER
A last day free in jaisalmer. Stay overnight at Hotel.
Day 13: JAISALMER - JODHPUR
Morning drive form Jaisalmer-Jodhpur, afternoon tour of city
of Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan and it
was here that the renowned riding trousers originated. The
city is dominated by the massive Meharangarh Fort which is
still run by the Maharaja of Jodhpur. The suttee hand prints
on the entrance gates are a sombre reminder of India's
turbulent past. The museums within the fort includes an
amazing collection of elephant hordes and it houses
Rajasthan's largest collection of miniature paintings. There
is also an enormous and extraordinarily luxurious tent by
the Moghul Emperors when they were in the field.
DAY 14: JODHPUR-JAIPUR
After breakfast you will head off by road for Jaipur,
capital of Rajasthan. You will pass through Ajmer - a town
famous for princely Mayo Collage, where all the future kings
Of India were educated. You reach Jaipur in the early
evening and transfer to your hotel.
Day 15: JAIPUR
This day will be spent sightseeing in Jaipur - the Amer
fort, 11 kms outside of jailer, the old pink city in the
centre of jaipur and Rambagh palace which is now hotel but
where the Maharajah of jaipur once lived.
Day 16: JAIPUR-AGRA
Morning drive to Agra via deserted city of the Emperor
Akbar, Fatehur Sikri. This city is one of India's finest
examples of the Mughal architecture. Akbar was the Muslim
ruler of India and one of the highest points in her long and
vibrant history and this city was his dream realised - a
Place where all religions and cultures of the world would
meet and flourish into one world philosophy - te Ain - I -
Akbari. sadly, its water supply dried up and Akbar had to
move his court - his dream tatters.By early afternoon you
will reach agra and refresh yourself in your hotel before at
last driving down tosee one of the wonders of the world -
the Taj Mahal.the monument was built by the Moghal Shah
Jahan in honour of his wife Mumtaz,who died inchildbirth. He
planned to built his own mausoleum across the river - an
exact copy of the Taj but in black marble. But he died
before this could be realised. It is without doubt one of
the most beautiful structures ever conceived and its fame is
well deserved. You can easily spend hours here taking
photos, examining the intricate marble inlay work ot simply
sitting in the cool recesses of the building itself and
soaking up its wonderful atmosphere. There will be time also
to visit the nearby red fort along the lines of the one in
Delhi. It was in this fort that Shah Jehan was imprisoned by
his son Aurangabad and spent his last days gazing at his
wondrous creation - the Taj Mahal.
Day 17: DELHI
After breakfast you will head back delhi for some shopping
and sightseeing
Day 18: DELHI
Today free till transferred to the Airport to board flight
for onward Destination.
