Start your morning by driving to Mahabalipuram via Kanchipuram, which is famous for its hand-woven silk fabrics. Once you reach your hotel, check in and the rest of the day is leisure.

After breakfast at the hotel, head to the Shore Temple, an impressive display of early temple construction in South India. Another must-see attraction is the Penance of Bhagirath, the world's largest bas-relief known as 'Arjuna's Penance'. Kanchipuram has many other important temples, such as the 16th-century Ekambareshwar Temple, the Kamakshi Temple, dedicated to Parvati, 'The goddess with the eyes of love', and the Vaikunta Perumal Temple. After exploring these temples, head to Mahabalipuram and spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. Your overnight stay will be in Mahabalipuram.

Begin your journey towards Pondicherry and explore the lively Goubert Markets at the city's heart. After that, visit the renowned Aurobindo Ashram, where the members maintain a peaceful atmosphere despite the bustling crowds. The ashram is based on the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and Mira Alfassa. Next, visit the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, established by French missionaries in 1908 and later gained the status of a Basilica in 2011. This Catholic Church is a prime example of Gothic architecture and one of the best churches to visit in Pondicherry. Take a Rickshaw ride through the French Colonies and Commercial Streets in the evening.

Drive from Pondicherry to Trichy in the morning, arrive, and check into the hotel. Visit Srirangam Vishnu Temple in the afternoon. It features 21 gopurams (towers), one of which is the highest in India at 73 metres. After that, climb the 344 steps to the top of Rock Fort, 83 metres above the ground, and home to Vinayaka Temple. Return to your hotel to spend the night.

Morning leave by road for Madurai after breakfast. Visit the 16th-century Thirumalai Nayak Palace in the afternoon. Visit the largest Meenakshi temple afterward; it has two main shrines, one to the goddess Parvati (Meenakshi) and the other to Shiva (Sunereshwara). Heavy gold plates are used to cover the doms of both sanctuaries. You can also visit the 1,000-pillar hall constructed by the Nayakas in the 16th century out of solid granite stones. Return to the hotel to spend the night.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel and check out to drive to Periyar. Upon arrival check in at the hotel and get ready for the Periyar sightseeing, take a boat tour of the Periyar Tiger Reserve to see various wildlife, including tigers, panthers, leopards, bison, spotted deer, barking deer, wild boar, herds of wild elephants, and other birds. Return to the hotel to spend the night.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel and check out to drive to Kumarakom. On arrival, board a Houseboat in the backwaters to Kumarakom.
