Overview

The rail journey to South India begins in Chennai. It takes you through the stunning temples of Kanchipuram and the rock-cut temples of Mahabalipuram. After exploring these ancient treasures, the journey continues to Madurai, the oldest inhabited city in the region, known for its Thousand Mandapa Meenakshi Temple. The trip also takes you to Kanyakumari.

Next, the journey proceeds to Kerala, famously known as 'God's Own Country.' Here, you can enjoy the ultimate beach resort town of Kovalam, explore the treasure troves of Thiruvananthapuram, visit the spice gardens of Thekkady, and experience cruising on a houseboat in Kumarakom and Alleppey. The tour concludes in Cochin, Kerala's famous city known for its spice route connection and Chinese fishing nets. Finally, the last leg of the 15-day tour takes you to Karnataka, where you can enjoy the idyllic gardens of Bengaluru and the mesmerising city of Mysore.

Upon arrival at Chennai International Airport, our representative will meet you after the meet and greet and transfer you to the hotel, and get ready for Chennai sightseeing. Here you visit the Flower and Fruit market, Ary and Bronze gallery. 

Overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, you are going on a day excursion to Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram. Kanchipuram, which is located 70 km west of Mahabalipuram, is a city that boasts thousands of temples. In addition to its temples, the city is also renowned for its silk weavers, who settled here four centuries ago and have given it a stellar reputation.

Afterward, you can drive south of Chennai on the coast to Mahabalipuram, an ancient port of the Pallavas. The Pallavas have created many marvellous monuments that feature sculptural panels, caves, Monolithic Rathas, and Temples. One of the notable monuments is the Krishna Mandapam, which has a big bas-relief famous for its realistic representation. Another monument is the Shore Temple, one of the oldest in the south, dating back to the 8th century AD. It is a good example of the first phase of structural temples constructed in the Dravidian style. Lastly, there are the Five Rathas, a group of five monolithic temples, each created in a different style. In the evening, you can return to Chennai for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will go to Chennai city sightseeing and visit its museum to see the Art and Bronze Gallery. Also, drive through the Flower and Fruit Market, High Court, Fort Museum, Marina Beach, and Santhome Cathedral.

In the evening, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Later in the evening, transfer to the railway station to board the train for Madurai. Overnight stay on board.

Morning has arrived in Madurai, the beautiful city known as the Athens of the East. As the second largest city on the banks of the River Vaigai, it is a must-visit destination. During your trip, be sure to visit the magnificent Meenakshi Temple, devoted to the consort of Lord Shiva. You can also explore the Tirumala Nayak Palace, a stunning Indo-Saracenic-style building famous for its beautiful stucco work on its arches and domes. Remember to visit the picturesque Alagar Hills and the Tirupara Kundran Rock Temple. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, the morning is leisurely free, or you may explore the city alone. Later drive to Kanyakumari. Upon arrival, transfer to a hotel for overnight stay.

Start your day early and witness the majestic sunrise. After that, visit the Kanyakumari Temple, Gandhi Memorial, and Vivekananda Memorial in Kanyakumari. In the evening, enjoy the breathtaking sunset view from the beach. Afterward, proceed to Kovalam, and once you arrive, you will be transferred to your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

Kovalam is well known for its beautiful beaches and palm-fringed coconut trees. After breakfast, a full day is free to relax, enjoy the sea, sun, and surf at Kovalam Beaches. Overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, a half-day temple tour of Trivandrum, visiting the Temple of Sree Padmanabhaswamy. Overnight stay at the hotel in Trivandrum.

Today we will be driving to Thekkady in the morning. The Periyar National Park, a part of the Western Ghats mountain range, spans 777 square km. Here observe wildlife on a motorboat cruise along Periyar Lake. Elephants, wild boar, sambar, tigers, leopards, wild dogs, langur monkeys, and other animals are easily visible. In the afternoon, visit spice plantations. Spending the night at a hotel.

Enjoy a delightful breakfast before embarking on an enchanting overnight backwater cruise aboard traditionally decorated houseboats. As you float in these luxurious villas, take in rare and unusual sights, including Chinese fishing nets, paddy fields, locals crafting coir products, rustic homes, ancient temples, and lush coconut groves. Spend the night aboard the houseboat and fully immerse yourself in the experience.

Disembark from the houseboat, and the rest of the day is free to explore the place's natural beauty. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Morning disembark at Alleppey and drive to Cochin. Later leave for a city tour of Cochin. The main attractions of Cochin are Jewish synagogues, Portuguese Churches, Mosques, and Hindu temples. Overnight stay at the Cochin.

Morning transfer to the Railway station to connect Train. On board for a day and overnight stay at Bangalore.

After breakfast leave for Mysore. Upon arrival explore this historic royal city known for its exquisite silk, fragrant sandalwood, and magnificent palaces, including the grandest palace in all of India, constructed in the Indo-Persian style back in 1900. Here visit an art gallery and the Chamundeshwari Temple, devoted to the goddess Kali, situated atop Chamundi Hill, providing a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city. Later, travel to Somnathpur, renowned for the Keshava temple. After a day of sightseeing, we'll head back to Bangalore and spend the night at the hotel.

Today after breakfast at the hotel you will drive to Bangalore airport for your destination.
